The music industry lost a powerful voice today. The “Queen of Disco,” Donna Summer, passed away this morning in Florida after a long battle with cancer. The five-time Grammy winner was known for her disco anthems “Last Dance,” “Hot Stuff,” “I Feel Love” and “Love to Love You Baby.” The stars took to Twitter to mourn the legendary artist’s death, including “Avengers” star Clark Gregg.

With lyrics reading, “When you’re laying so close to me/There’s no place I’d rather you be than with me/I love to love you, baby/Do it to me again and again,” we can understand why Gregg feels that way. With a soulful voice Summer crooned the lyrics among whispers and moans in the background to create a song that has the power to make any man blush.

Of course, Gregg wasn’t the only one to honor the late singer with a tweet. Countless celebrities took to Twitter to remember the actress including Ryan Seacrest, Adam Lambert and Rihanna. “In Living Color” actor Tommy Davidson sent MTV News a statement about the singer’s death.

“Donna Summer used disco to bring the most unlikely people together?blacks, whites & everyone in between,” he said. “Donna was a role model, the consummate professional. Her guidance and inspiration will forever help me reach new heights as a performer. I cherish the days I toured with her. Love to love you, baby.”

Taylor Swift has a reputation for being a good girl with a big heart, and when you pair that with her sizable bank account, you get one very large charitable donation that will benefit music education for both children and senior citizens.

The six-time Grammy winner has donated $4 million to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville to fund what will now be known as the Taylor Swift Education Center, an exhibit and classroom space scheduled to open in 2014.

“In terms of what it will allow us to do, we do education very well now,” museum director Kyle Young told the Associated Press (via Billboard). “It will allow us to do what we do better, serve more people, develop new programs, and I’m happy to say that as we talked through this opportunity with Taylor, she very much wants to be involved in an advisory capacity in what we do. Is there a better person out there who’s in touch with a young audience? I think not. I was joking we should be paying her to do that. I was only joking.”

Swift’s donation is the second largest ever gifted to the museum and is the largest given by a musician. The country-pop megastar has a long history with the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. She signed her record contract there and gave one of her first public performances on the building’s plaza.

In the past, she has also volunteered her time to the museum’s “All for the Hall” fundraisers.

The Taylor Swift Education Center is part of a larger $75 million expansion of the Hall of Fame that will more than double the size of the museum and include a new concert theater and more space for exhibits and archives.

The planned education center will be more than 7,500 square feet spread over two stories. It will have its own exterior entrance that will lead to three classrooms and exhibit space. The expansion will allow the museum to dramatically increase its youth education programs, with plans for it to house a “musical petting zoo” and an art classroom where children can make concert posters and other art projects.

The center will also give the museum the opportunity to add new programs and workshops for teens and senior citizens.

“For Taylor to want to engage herself in the life of this place in such an appropriate way,” Young continued, “every way you slice it and dice it, it’s great.”

Today marks the beginning of the 2012 Cannes Film Festival! As actors, directors and filmmakers head to France over the next two weeks, certain stars are already making their splash. For instance, Sacha Baron Cohen (in character as Admiral General Aladeen) hosted a press conference in Croisette, Cannes’ famous promenade, to promote “Dictator.” Immediately following he hoisted himself on a camel?albeit with a struggle?and rode away for some shopping. Of course he did.

Also in attendance is Ewan McGregor, who’s acting as a judge on the Cannes jury alongside fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier, french actress Emmanuelle Devos and Diane Kruger among others. The festival opens with the Wes Anderson film, “Moonrise Kingdom.”

The Bill Murray comedy takes place in the summer of 1965 and follows Suzy and Sam, two 12-year-old lovebirds who flee their home?an island off the coast of New England?and escape into the wilderness. The Sheriff, played by Bruce Willis, begins searching for the kids just as a massive storm approaches, and their once peaceful town is shaken up beyond anyone in the community’s control?which might be for the best.

Other films making their debut (and featured on our top 10 must-see list) are David Cronenberg’s mind-trip “Cosmopolis” starring Robert Pattinson, the movie adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s “On the Road” featuring Kristen Stewart and “Lawless,” a southern crime film with Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf and Gary Oldman.

Is there a film premiering at the Cannes festival you’re excited to see? Let us know in the comments and on Twitter!
